baptism

Baptism is one of the most powerful steps in following Jesus.

It’s where you publicly declare that your old life has died with Christ and you’ve been raised to walk in newness of life. Baptism doesn’t save you—Jesus does—but it powerfully shows that you belong to Him.

When you go into the water, you’re identifying with His death, burial, and resurrection, and when you come out, you’re stepping forward into the freedom, joy, and hope that come from life with Christ.

WHAT IS BAPTISM?

Baptism is a visible picture of the invisible grace of God. It’s a way of showing what He’s already done in you—it symbolizes union with Jesus, the washing away of sin, and the beginning of a new life of obedience to Him. Baptism is not optional for a follower of Jesus—it’s both a command and a privilege. Through it, we remember Christ’s death and resurrection, and we publicly declare that our lives belong to Him.

WHO SHOULD BE BAPTIZED?

Baptism is for anyone who has repented of sin, trusted in Jesus as Lord and Savior, and become His disciple.

At All of Life, we practice believer’s baptism: we baptize those who have received the saving benefits of Christ’s work and want to follow Him in obedience. If you haven’t yet trusted Christ, the first step isn’t baptism—it’s to turn to Him in faith, confess your sin, and receive His grace. We also typically don’t baptize very young children (8yrs or younger) unless they show a persistent desire to be baptized and give clear evidence of salvation.

WHAT QUESTIONS ARE ASKED during BAPTISM?

When someone is baptized, the moment is simple but profound. In the water, you’ll be asked three sets of simple questions, which a pastor will discuss with you beforhand:

  • Jesus, the Son of God (Virgin birth, perfect life, death, resurrection, ascension, and promised return)

  • Jesus, the Savior of all who believe (The forgiveness of sin, and the gift of His righteousness)

  • Your intent to follow Him (“Will you follow Jesus—with the strength God provides—for the rest of your life?”)

TAKE THE STEP

Baptism is both obedience and celebration—it’s declaring Jesus as Lord and King, and inviting your church family to rejoice with you. If you’re ready to take this step, or even if you just want to learn more, we’d love to walk with you.

The joy of following Jesus is worth everything—so why wait?
